Balloon Decor 101

The best place to start with balloon decor is work with the right supplies.

Working with helium to create arches and columns can be costly, but it is the only choice in certain situations. The use of frames like the one shown on the right can keep cost down over the long run. These are great to use at Proms, Weddings, Homecomings and other special events.

Using quality balloons is essential. I prefer the quality of Qualatex balloons. They have been around for 85 years and use 100% biodegradable latex.

The art of balloon decor is one that takes some time to study. One of the best resources for starting to learning this art is to become a certified balloon artist, CBA. Learn more...

The CBA courses teach you the best methods for working with latex balloons in all environments. It also ensures that you understand your color wheel and are using it to select the color scheme you use for a piece. Many new artists also have troubles understand the basic elements and principles of design required to make a piece of art from a balloon and ensure it is in proportion to its environment. Example: If a balloon artist was asked to make a large American Flag out of balloons, but did not know how it was going to be used, they may make a 5 foot by 8 foot flag only to find out that the room that is was being displayed in was a ball room with 40 foot high walls and the flag is not in proportion with the room size. With a bit more education and the same amount of effort, an artist could have made a grand masterpiece.

Balloon Centerpieces

Centerpieces made for 10-20 tables can take an average 10 hours to design, prepare and put into place. For this reason, keeping the design simple is important.
